Eurocommercial, the owner of Valbo Shopping Center, is making a major commitment to making the company completely carbon-neutral by 2030
The installation, consisting of 1,330 solar panels, is estimated to generate 400,000 kWh of fossil-free energy per year and has a total area of 2,438 square meters.
This translates to enough energy to power 80 single-family homes for an entire year.
If the panels were laid end to end, they would form a line just over 2.3 kilometers long, which is equivalent to 494 Volvo V60s.
“We have established long-term environmental goals for our operations and maintain a strong sustainability focus in all our investments; locally produced solar energy is a key part of that effort,” says Jonas Gustavsson, Property Manager at
Eurocommercial.
“We are committed to becoming completely carbon-neutral by 2030, and all of our shopping centers have been equipped with solar panel systems as large as is economically feasible under current tax regulations.” “We certainly hope to have the opportunity to continue these efforts in the future,” adds Jonas.
“It’s very rewarding to work with partners like Valbo Centrum, who have demonstrably prioritized green energy solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a sustainable society. I’d like to thank my team at Swede Energy for a job well done on the installation, and also Eurocommercial for their excellent collaboration.” “Now we hope the sun will shine a little extra on Valbo going forward,” says Christoffer Caesar, CEO of Swede Energy.
With this initiative, Valbo Shopping Center hopes to inspire others to undertake similar projects.
“Hopefully, this will encourage both visitors and other property owners to take a closer look at solar energy as a path toward a more sustainable society,” concludes Anette.
